Scriben App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SleepMind, Inc. ("Scriben", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the Scriben mobile apps for iOS and Android and the Scriben AI pen (together, the "App"). Purchases on shop.scriben.ai are covered by our store privacy policy.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that provider.

Recordings. Audio you record with the Scriben pen or in the App. Recordings are transferred from the pen to your phone over Bluetooth and uploaded to our servers for processing.

Transcripts and notes. Transcripts, summaries, action items and other notes generated from your recordings, and any edits you make to them.

Device information. Your phone model, operating system version, app version, and identifiers of the Scriben pens you pair.

Diagnostics and usage. Crash reports, error logs and information about how you use App features, which we use to keep the App working and improve it.

Optional features. If you choose to connect optional features, such as a calendar or other integrations, or allow location access where the App offers it, we collect that information only to provide those features. You can turn these off at any time in the App or in your phone's settings.

Support communications. Information you send us when you contact support.

How we use information

We use information to provide the App: to sync recordings from your pen, transcribe them, generate notes, and show them to you. We also use it to maintain your account, provide support, fix problems, keep the App secure, and improve its reliability.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We use service providers that process information on our behalf and only to provide services to us. These include cloud hosting and storage providers, speech recognition and AI model providers that transcribe recordings and generate notes, crash reporting and analytics providers, and sign-in providers such as Google and Apple.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

Recording consent

Laws on recording conversations vary by location. You are responsible for informing participants and obtaining any consent required before recording.

Data retention

We keep your account information, recordings, transcripts and notes until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account, we remove this data from our active systems within 30 days.

Copies may remain in our database backups for up to 37 additional days, after which the backups are overwritten. We keep limited security and audit logs, such as records of account access and activity, for up to 7 years to meet our security and compliance obligations. Crash reports are kept by our crash reporting provider for a limited period and then deleted. We may also keep certain information where required by law.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit between the App and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your choices

You can delete individual recordings and notes in the App. You can delete your account at any time in the App's settings, or by following the steps on our account deletion page. You may also request access to, correction of, or a copy of your personal information by contacting us.

Children

The App is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Your information is processed and stored in the United States.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
